Jenna Campbell wasn’t always a full-time blogger. In fact, she started her blog, Lantern Lane Designs, after spending years at home raising her kids. Once they were off to school, she found herself eager to return to work—but this time, she wanted something on her own terms.
Armed with a love for home decor, minimal tech experience, and zero background in digital marketing, Jenna jumped into the world of blogging. What began as a personal creative outlet has since become a six-figure income stream, thanks to her dedication, smart strategies, and a whole lot of Pinterest power.
From Stay-at-Home Mom to Successful Blogger
Back in 2012, Jenna stepped away from her job as a purchasing manager to raise her children. By 2018, with her youngest entering school, she felt ready to earn again—but didn’t want to return to a traditional 9-to-5.
She’d always enjoyed decorating and reading home blogs, so starting her own site made sense. After months of research and a leap of faith, she launched Lantern Lane Designs, with a focus on DIY and home decor.
Her first year was intense—filled with trial, error, and a steep learning curve. But Jenna treated her blog like a business from day one, and that mindset helped her grow.
How She Makes Her Money
Jenna’s primary income comes from ads, mostly through Mediavine. She also earns affiliate commissions (around 10% of her total revenue) via platforms like Amazon and LTK.
While viral content once gave her a massive boost, even today, with an average of 100,000+ monthly sessions, her blog continues to bring in close to six figures annually—even without viral spikes.
Now, she’s expanding into digital products, aiming to diversify her income further.
The Pinterest Playbook
Pinterest was Jenna’s secret weapon early on—and it still drives about 70% of her blog traffic. She attributes much of her success to learning how to manually pin strategically, following advice from the course Pinterest Strategies by Carly Campbell.
She uses the platform not just to drive traffic but to grow her email list and connect with readers. Although she’s working on building her presence across other platforms, Pinterest remains her bread and butter.
What She Thinks About SEO
Jenna acknowledges SEO’s importance but believes new bloggers shouldn’t rely on it exclusively—especially in today’s unpredictable search landscape. Instead, she encourages creators to write for real readers and use a blended strategy of keyword research and seasonal content planning, especially when optimizing for Pinterest.
She uses tools like KeySearch and regularly checks Pinterest Trends and Google Trends to guide her topics.
On Content Creation and Growth
Jenna’s blog now features over 200 posts—all written and photographed by her. From room makeovers to budget decor tips, her content is inspired by her own home projects.
Though her goal is one post per week, she’s currently publishing about two per month. Her photography game has come a long way, thanks to a DSLR camera (Canon EOS 6D Mark) and training in Lightroom editing.
The result? Highly visual, engaging blog posts that resonate with her audience—and earn backlinks from major sites like HGTV, The Spruce, and House Beautiful.
Her Email List & Tough Lessons
If she could go back, Jenna says she’d prioritize her email list from the very beginning. She only began growing it seriously later in her blogging journey—and after a technical issue with her email provider, she had to rebuild it from scratch.
Now, with over 2,000 subscribers, she sends out regular tips and updates, working to nurture that community.
Challenges, Wins, and What Keeps Her Going
Like many creators, Jenna has faced moments of doubt. The blogging journey can be a rollercoaster—one day you’re riding high, and the next, you’re questioning everything. But her advice is clear: don’t give up.
Her proudest moment? Seeing her front porch featured in HGTV Magazine. That recognition—and the joy of building a successful business as a self-proclaimed introvert—is what keeps her going.

Final Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
“Blogging isn’t easy. There are highs and lows. But if you stick with it, learn as you go, and treat it like a business, it can become a full-time income stream.”
If Jenna can turn her love of DIY and decor into a thriving six-figure business, there’s a lesson here for anyone: with passion, persistence, and a bit of Pinterest magic, anything’s possible.
